HOW TO CHOOSE GROOMSMEN ATTIRE
How to Choose Groomsmen Attire
It is much easier to choose the right groomsmen attire for your wedding once you have considered some of the details, like the season and time of day, the venue, and the style or theme of your wedding. These deets can point you in the right direction and help you narrow down your outfit options.
WHERE IS YOUR WEDDING?
Location definitely matters in choosing your groomsmen's attire. For example, beach weddings are a casual venue with warm weather. That means a lighter colored suit with a thinner material would make sense for the tone and temperature. However, if you are planning a more traditional ceremony, a more formal look in a darker color would match the vibe nicely.
WHEN IS YOUR WEDDING?
Some tuxedos and suits are more seasonal than others. For example, that black velvet tuxedo jacket you like is probably not the right choice for your groomsmen on a hot summer day. The season and time of day play a huge part in the outfit, but if you are planning an evening wedding, darker tuxedo or suit colors are the way to go no matter the season.
WHAT IS YOUR WEDDING STYLE?
Even if you decide not to choose a theme for your wedding (rustic, vintage, whimsical, etc.), it doesn't mean that your wedding won't have a style. The more you and you soon to be wife have figured out what the vibe of your wedding will be, the easier it is to choose the wedding party's attire. During the early planning process, this will still be a bit hard to decide, but at least try to figure out whether your wedding will be more on the formal or more on the casual side.
WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?
While working in the fashion industry we have seen it all; Groomsmen who are wearing a casual suit with no tie and sneakers, while the groom is all dressed up in a tuxedo is just one of many odd examples. It just makes sense to match the groomsmen attire with the formality of the grooms's wedding outfit.
